We are delighted to be the first market in Northern Ireland to commit to becoming a JAM Card friendly Market, by introducing JAM Card Awareness training to all market traders that trade at our markets.
The JAM Card, which stands for Just A Minute, is a social innovation from the NOW Group, an organisation that supports people with autism and learning difficulties into employment.
Previously their service users had said they would like a discreet way of telling people that sometimes they need a little extra time and patience. It was initially created as a credit card sized card and has recently been developed into an app for smartphones. There are currently over 86,000 JAM card users across Northern Ireland, the UK and Ireland which in turn supports the consistency for service users.
JAM Card training has recently been rolled out to our market traders, with the plan to ensure all market traders signed up with us have completed the training within the next few months. Our traders are currently working towards completing the short e-learning awareness training programme. This ensures they are aware of the JAM card and how they can provide that additional time or support if needed.
Following training these traders will be able to display their Jam Card Certificates and Jam card branding materials. This makes shoppers that use Jam Cards as a communication tool aware that they can to show their JAM Card if they wish to do so when visiting the market.
JAM Cards can be accessed free of charge by contacting NOW group on 028 9043 6400 or by visiting -www.jamcard.org and NOW Group at www.nowgroup.org.
